Day 28 of Australia Adventure Sydney Australia – May 14th 2010
sand dune excursion and sand boarding
Wake up this morning and head down for a breakfast in the hotel. A very nice room and BK is very good with a large selection of everything. Then as it is very sunny out, go for another walk up the water area this morning as it is very nice.
This morning put our bags onto the bus and many of us are off to a final excursion.
We all head out to all of these sand dunes near the ocean. We get into these 4wd drives and go for a ride over many of the sand dunes. Quite the amazing thing to see, then we go sand boarding at some areas as well. A good workout as when walking back up the top of the sand dunes.
I come down a few times on the board and have a few wipe outs, all well.
Then it is back onto the 4wd and do a more tour of the area. We go into a pathway in the rain forest then come back out and almost get stuck going up this hill. The other jeep had to get a rope and pull us the rest of the way out. We then venture over to these shacks that some old fishermen live in on the sand dunes, quite interesting. Most of them live for free out there, as there are no utilities for them.
Anyways, afterwards we go for a drive up the beach and back to our pick up area, as it is almost time to go. This ends the adventures with Contiki for Australia.
We are picked up by the bus and head off towards Sydney. Lunch stop today is at a truck stop and ends up being MacDonald’s as its the only thing available here. Have a big mac and fries, a lunch of champions. Then back on bus toward Sydney, during this time I do another customer survey of the trip.
I write in many good comments and high praise for the driver and tour manager. I do suggest that they reduce the amount of time of stopping at shopping malls and try to fit in more sightseeing locations along the way.
Eventually that day we make it into Sydney and do a stop by the Sydney Opera house where we have an official group photo done of everyone. Quite a good photo then we are off to our final hotel this Holiday Inn in Kings Cross. Get off the bus and many are done and go separate ways.
Later that evening, meet up with a handful of people again and we have dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Have a chicken burrito that is ok and a beer, which is different style of meal. Then we head off to downtown and wander in China town for a bit tonight. Have some noodles and then meet up with the rest of the Contiki group again.
We all head off to a night club tonight, called Ivy. We are able to get inside, dispute having a low standards of dress code. Inside people are very dressed to the T, all in suits, while most of us wearing sneakers and regular shirts. It is a good time, but we not spend much time here as it is just a bit boring and way too crowded.
So call it a night and then back to hotel, for some final good byes.
This is its for Contiki of the Aussie Explorer it was an amazing tour and some amazing people as well. There is more of my adventures after this day, as I have some time I did in Melbourne, stay tuned.
