Day 3 of Road Trip USA – 2013

Day 3 – Omaha, Nebraska – Oct 22 2013

Wake up this morning and have in room breakfast of peanut butter and banana sandwich and wonderful hotel coffee. from the room coffee maker. Did some step lunges to get a morning workout and then figure out my day.Picture 011 - Durham Museum (3)
So head out and drive back to downtown area of Omaha. Make it to the Durham Museum which is one the main highlights of this city. Here is a lowdown about the museum,”Beautiful architecture blends with memories of a time gone by at The Durham Museum.Making its home in one of Omaha’s most unique treasures, Union Station, The Durham Museum offers a fascinating look at the history of the region and offers a broad-range of traveling exhibits covering subjects ranging from history and culture, to science, industry and more through our affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution and strong ties with the Library of Congress, National Archives and the Field Museum. ”
An amazing museum, was old train cars you can walk into. A photo history about the city of Omaha, and all about the South. Very interesting museum. One could spend a few hours here.
Overall was my educational experience for the day and was quite fulfilled. Onward from museum then get to the Lewis and Clark landing point on the River walk of the city. A very historic area and also a monument about the flood from 2011 is here a well.
Make it driving and drive to the wrong area almost driving into the detachment of the Homeland Security area.. but was all ok as no one chased me down. Then from here made it to a big castle on hill. The Joslyn Castle and battery in camera died since forgot to charge it. So no photos of it.
Then make my way to one of the shopping malls for a lunch at the food court. First went to the Crossroads mall and once inside all the shops were closed down. Something odd here. Then went to the Midland Mall and everything was all open. Found a nice store that sells japan food and had a chicken teriyaki. Very good and good budget.
Overall that was my experience in Omaha. As weather was now raining and most of the other things to do are outdoors. Head to the room again for some R and R and plan out for next day.
