Ski Trip 2013 Golden BC – Day 1 February 18th, 2013
Today of Feb 18 Ski Trip 2013 Golden BC – Day 1 is date of the yearly ski trip. This year making a different destination and ski resort to try out new things. Going to head to the town of Golden, BC and ski at the resort of Kicking Horse.
After getting off another bloody night shift of work, I make it to the airport in Thunder Bay to check into my flight with Westjet to get to Calgary. Skis and baggage are safely checked in and then I board the flight. Once on the plane I go right to sleep the whole time and do not wake up till landing in Calgary. At airport get my bags and then get my rental car from Enterprise. The car today is a compact of a Toyota, Yaris and is a hatchback.
Leave the airport and stop at a Sobey’s grocery store in the area to pick up some snacks before leaving the city. I also get my onboard lunch for the drive down from the drive thru of A and W. Get a Mozza burger , fries and a Root Beer, which make a great tasty plan for a road trip.
The drive is about 3 and half hours to get to the town of Golden. Head up Hwy 1 of leaving Calgary and towards the mountains. The drive is great as you get to see the prairies transform in to the mountains of Canada. The traffic is busy but smooth and scenary is amazing, as it is one of the best drives in all of Canada. Pass several towns on the way, such as Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise and a few others. Finally after driving for 3 and half hours I make it into the town of Golden. Golden is an easy town to navigate as its population is just over 4000 people. I make it to the Rondo Motel to which is my stay for the next 5 nights. Check in is super fast as I had prepaid on Hotels.com and keys and everything was ready.
Tonights dinner is going to be simple as I am very tired and intend to turn in early tonight as to start day off for ski early. So have a dinner of a peanut butter and banana sandwich, chocolate milk and call it a night quite early, but overall an amazing and restful sleep.
