Trip for 100 Mile Mountain Bike Race August 17th, 2012
This trip is about a small weekend escape down to town of Crosby, Minnesota, United States
So on Friday August 17 2012
leave in morning and drive down. The weather today is quite windy and cool. Quite cool for August feels like fall almost.
Cross the border into USA without any problems. From here i drove up Mt Josephine and stop at the lookout. The looKOUT is very nice and has been renovated. New bathroom and lookout spot that over hands the cliff. Quite neat.
From here i drive down HWY 61 and head in to Grand Marais.
I stop at the Holiday Gas Station and pick up a sandwich and a rockstar.
Then drive some more and stop in Two Harbours at the SuperOne Grocery Store and get some snacks for the room later on.
From here I leave and drive into Duluth and have to detour through downtown as road construction. Then its off down I 35 towards hwy 210 near the Black Bear Casino
I drive HWY 210 to get to town of Aitkin, MN and its a very boring drive, almost nothing to see but swamp.
Finally get into the town of Aitkin. There is one traffic light in centre of town. Seems like a nice town.
Then from here i go drive into Crosby, MN to check out Morningside Park the starting point of the race I will be doing the next day. The Rusty Ride.
Here i check in and sign my waiver for the next day.
I drive around Crosby, and its a small town but nice. lots going on in this area. this weekend.
later i head back to Aitkin, MN and get some rest at the motel.
Quiet evening. As Aitkin is very small, and not much going on in the evening. I casually rode my bike around town that evening, nice place.
